Trax Flanigan: History
The Misplaced DwarfMy father's shame will live forever. He took us from our home in the mountains of Darak-Tur for the love of the Sea. My mother travelled without complaint, even though she was a true mountain woman. We travelled first to the Nor-Land. That is where I began to love the woods. Our cottage in Nor-Land bordered the Silent Wood. My brothers and I would play together in the forest. Nikki was the fastest. Toren was the strongest. But I was the one who learned to track, trick and trap them both. We spent our childhood and adolesence in those woods, while our father travelled the seas and our mother minded us. When I entered my twenties, the family crossed the Sea of Ulym to the land of Na-Moor. This satisfied my father for some years. The local Hunters Guide taught me to set traps and create fur garments. They paid me a copper for each type of animal I could trap and skin. They would also give me guide work. I learned to 'disappear' in the woods. One evening I was wandering through the local forest and met a strange man. He was clad as though he was a part of the forest himself. His eyes were the only brightness in the shadow where he sat. He was weaving rope and sat near a small fire that, so blended into the surrounding trees, I could see only when it was a step away. I introduced myself and met Filhorn, the Ranger. I was fascinated with him (and half in love with him). I spent the evening discussing his life and the forest. He must have been lonely, or perhaps he took a liking to the idea of a dwarf becoming a Ranger, as we spoke long into the night. When I returned home, I understood my path. I knew I needed to become a Ranger, like Filhorn. I took the coppers I'd made from the Hunters Guild and travelled to Kurach. I enrolled in the famous Ranger School in Sivae and travelled to Imperial Ward upon Graduation. So here I am. A misplaced Dwarf among Elves and Humans. Living thousands of miles from my true mountain home. Peaceful in the forests of the world. Living in Kurach, awaiting the first adventure of my young life.
